Abstract

Comprendre comment se forme le réseau endothélial et débroussailler les mécanismes cellulaires et moléculaires mis en jeu au cours de ce processus constituent des enjeux très importants dans la perspective de l’angiogenèse thérapeutique. C’est pourquoi, l’étude de la mise en place du réseau endothélial chez l’embryon revêt un intérêt d’autant plus évident que les processus impliqués au cours de l’ontogenèse endothéliale doivent être, sinon similaires, du moins proches de ceux mis en oeuvre lors des processus d’angiogenèse pathologique. Cette revue répertorie donc un certain nombre d’acteurs clés impliqués dans l’émergence, la différenciation et la maturation de l’arbre vasculaire.

Understanding how blood vessels differentiate and dissecting the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in this process have become important challenges in relation to therapeutic angiogenesis. Thus, the interest in the endothelial ontogeny appears obvious because the mechanisms at work in this system may be also involved during pathological angiogenesis. This paper presents an overview of some key factors playing a role during the emergence, the differentiation and the remodeling of the vascular tree.
