This document presents the review of the expert working group brought together by Inserm in  the collective  expertise  procedure  to  answer  the  questions  raised  by  the  Director  Generalof Health (DGH) concerning the position of vaccination in controlling tuberculosis in France. It  is  based  on  the  scientific  data  available  at  the  date  of  the  first  six  months  of  2004.  The documentary   base   for   this   expert   review   consists   of   approximately   900   articles   and   documents.

<summary type="text">Tuberculose : Place de la vaccination dans la maîtrise de la maladie
Malgré sa décroissance régulière au cours des dernières décennies la tuberculose reste fréquente dans les populations issues des pays à forte endémie, même chez leurs enfants nés en France. La mise en œuvre rapide du traitement des patients et le dépistage dans leur environnement sont les conditions indispensables à l’arrêt de la dispersion de la contamination. La vaccination est un élément important de la prévention des formes sévères chez l’enfant. A la demande de la Direction générale de la santé, l’Inserm a mis en place une expertise collective qui a traité ces questions et en particulier la place de la vaccination dans le programme de maîtrise de la maladie.

This  document  presents  the  summary  and  recommendations  of  the  expert  group  convened  by  Inserm  through  the  collective  expert  evaluation  procedure  to  answer  the  questions raised  by  the Interministerial Mission to Combat Drugs and Drug Addiction (Mission interministérielle de lutte contre la drogue et la toxicomanie, Mildt) concerning tobacco dependence. It is based on the scientific information available as at the last six months of 2003. The document base for this expert evaluation consisted of approximately 1,000 articles and documents.
